We have talked a lot over the past year about trying to record a new album of praise & worship music, the kind of songs we play every week as we lead our church in worship on Sundays and Wednesdays. It would be an album of songs that people know but with our twist on them. Over the past several months we have purchased some new equipment and software in order to accomplish this. We have most of what we need to get started and are now in the process of learning how to use what we have. We are trying to record ourselves playing live because that’s what we do. Hopefully we will have something to share before long but for now here’s a new video of us leading worship on Sunday morning. This is straight out of the front of the house mix, in other words, this is what it sounded like coming out of the speakers at church when we played, no eq or effects after the fact. We hope you enjoy it. I wish you could here our church singing along and worshiping because that’s the best part. We will work on mic’ing the room so we can share that in future.
On October 12 I lost someone else very dear to me. Dick Roundy, one of the finest Christian men I’ve ever known, went home to be with Jesus. Dick and his sweet wife Joyce had served FBC Garfield, where I pastor, for almost 30 years. Dick was a deacon and led our trustees for much of that time. He had a true servant’s heart and taught me so much. More than he knew. Joyce also served as the church secretary so I spent a great deal of time with them. They were my counselors and encouragers when I needed it, and that’s a lot! They had just recently moved to Colorado to be close to family when Dick suffered a stroke. It breaks my heart but Dick is home with Jesus and so once again, though my heart aches my spirit rejoices. I’m thankful to have known Dick and I’m thankful for the hope we have in Christ. The song “Carry On” that I wrote for Chris, posted below, now has even more meaning to me. If you’ve recently lost someone you love give it a listen. My prayer is that it would bring some peace and comfort to those who morn and remind us of the hope that we have.
On Aug. 5 2015 my friend and fellow pastor, Chris Rodgers went home to be with Jesus. Chris was a godly man whose life and ministry are a powerful testimony to the grace of God through Jesus Christ. All who knew him will miss him greatly but at the same time, we can rejoice for him. All who knew him and who know Christ also know that we will see him again one day. Until then we have one thing to do, preach the gospel with our words and our lives, just like Chris did.
I woke up early this past Monday morning with the words to this song on my heart. I recorded the instrumental tracks this week and Ty laid down the vocals. It’s just a demo but I’d like to share it with all of you. It’s dedicated to Chris’s family and friends.
Follow the links below to hear two inspiring messages by Chris. I know you will be encouraged.
We are ready to get serious about recording a praise & worship album, however, studio time is very expensive. So, we have decided to invest into our own home studio (in Eddie’s basement). It’s still expensive but we can do it as we go and once it’s done, we get to keep using it and hopefully continue to record. If you enjoy our music and would like to help us in this endeavor there are two ways you can do that. First and foremost, pray for us regularly. None of this means anything if God isn’t in it. Secondly, you can contribute financially by following this link Worship Album Project. There you will find a list of pledges from us for different donation amounts. Thank you in advance!
